Hey there! I'll keep it super-short.
I'm
Gene Bogolepov. I wrote my first song when I was 12, and I started my first band
T-Lazarus 4 years later. We played electroclash and I was reflecting on growing up as a
queer teenager in the country where homosexuality used to be perceived as a crime until early 90's.
In 2006 I founded my next project -
Gender ID. We were more aggressive and heavy. It was a good time, too: we traveled a lot and played support shows for Placebo, Ladytron, She Wants Revenge and Sparks. I am so glad I was honoured to share the stage with artists who influenced my music in so many ways!
In 2013 I was diagnosed with HIV and experienced a heavy long-lasting depressive episode, but my project
1314 helped me to process this situation and recover. In 2017 I left Russia and moved to Berlin. I couldn't stand lies and injustice any longer. Now I know what it means to be a
refugee.
I tell my stories. I try to be as honest as it gets.
Join me, maybe I'll tell
something that you need to hear.
Email me, if you want to collaborate or talk.
